Jane Forbes (nee Dunbar-Nasmith)

Jane Forbes, who died at Edinburgh, 21 September 2005, aged 52, was the wife of Andrew Forbes, and mother of Anna, James, Isabel and David.
She was born Jane Dunbar-Nasmith 1 May 1953, elder daughter of Rear-Admiral David Dunbar-Nasmith, CB, DSC (1921-1997), Flag Officer Scotland and Northern Ireland 1970-72, by his wife Elizabeth Gwendoline Bowlby (b. 1927), scion of that BLG family, daughter of Capt Henry Russell Bowlby (b. 1890, d.?) by his wife, the former Hermione Wisden.
Jane's paternal grandfather was Admiral Sir Martin Dunbar-Nasmith, VC, KCB, KCMG (1883-1965) (formerly Nasmith), who married in 1920, Beatrix, daughter of Commander Harry Dunbar-Dunbar-Rivers, of Glen Rothes.
Admiral Dunbar-Nasmith (who assumed the additional surname of Dunbar) won the VC in 1915 for most conspicuous bravery in command of a submarine.
