Sir Christopher Philipson-Stow, 5th Baronet

Sir Christopher Philipson-Stow, 5th Baronet, DFC, died at his home at Penetanguishene, Ontario, Canada, 18 August, 2005. He was aged 84.
Known as 'Ticker', he was born 13 Septemer, 1920, son of Henry Matthew Philipson-Stow (d. 1953), who was 3rd son of the 1st Baronet. His mother was Elizabeth Willes Chitty (d. 1979), daughter of Sir Thomas Willes Chitty, 1st Baronet.
The baronetcy was awarded to his grandfather Frederick Samuel Philipson Stow in 1907.
He was educated at Winchester. Career: served as a Flight Lieutenant in the Pathfinder Force, RAFVR during World War II, and was awarded the DFC in 1944; succeeded to the baronetcy on the demise of his cousin, 1982.
Sir Christopher married in 1952, Elizabeth Nairn, widow of Major F.G. McLaren, 48th Highlanders of Canada, and daughter of James Dixon Trees, of Toronto, by whom he had two sons, Robert Matthew, b. 1953, who now becomes the 6th Baronet, and Rowland, b. 1954, and a step-son, Duncan McLaren. Lady Philipson-Stow died in 1999.
